Dear Prospective Resident,
Thank you for your interest in the OPTI-West Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Residency Program. Located in Pomona, California, we are an ACGME accredited
PM&R program based out of Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare,
a world-class provider of medical-surgical and rehabilitation care serving
Southern California and beyond since 1938.
The breadth of clinical experience offered by our rehabilitation program
makes us truly unique. Resident rotations include
inpatient,
outpatient,
transitional care, interventional pain, orthopedic/musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, pediatrics,
electromyography, consultations, and electives. (View our program curriculum.)
As a teaching hospital, we challenge our residents to be active researchers. The
Casa Colina Research Institute (CCRI) conducts clinical research right here on campus to discover novel
interventions and improve care for people with disabilities. Our newly
built PM&R residency suite is adjacent to CCRI, and residents are
encouraged to participate in existing projects or request mentorship and
guidance on an original idea for a research project.
Casa Colina maintains critical connections with community physicians and
medical suppliers who will add value and perspective to your experience.
Our campus is home to a well-respected neurosurgery group and an excellent
orthopedics group. We have strong relationships with local prosthetics
and orthotics specialists, whom you will work with regularly. And, thanks
to our renowned
Sports Rehabilitation Program, you’ll get opportunities to volunteer at local sports events.
We encourage you to apply and visit us for a campus tour and to meet our
nine current residents. Casa Colina is located on 20 beautifully landscaped
acres. The surrounding communities offer a range of affordable housing
options. And our convenient Southern California location means you’ll
get great weather year-round, with easy access to the beach, winter sports,
world-class entertainment, dining, and more.
Our program offers
competitive salary and benefits. We hope you’ll contact us to learn more about what makes Casa Colina
unique, and we look forward to meeting you.
Regards,
Justin Phillips, MD, FAAPMR
