Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare offers neuropsychological evaluation services to provide comprehensive assessment of a person’s functioning and thinking. Our neuropsychologists perform standardized tests to evaluate attention, memory, language, visuo-perceptual, motor, and sensory skills, as well as higher-order executive functions like planning, organizing, and problem solving. Tests are scored based on one's own best level of ability and what is normal for one's age, so that we know whether there have been changes in one's thinking abilities and whether they are causing problems in their everyday life.
This outpatient service is recommended for any person suspected of having a brain-based impairment that affects thinking skills or behavior. Common referral reasons include:
Casa Colina’s Neuropsychology Evaluation Services can help to confirm or clarify a diagnosis, determine next steps in recovery and treatment, and discuss practical implications of ongoing challenges related to the patient’s injury or illness.
We provide a profile of strengths and weaknesses to guide rehabilitative, educational, and vocational services, documenting changes in functioning, including the effects of treatment. Based on our evaluation, we can generate referrals for neuropsychological treatment to other specialists, including speech pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, neurologists, psychiatrists, social workers, special education teachers, and vocational counselors.
Neuropsychology evaluation services also provide valuable education and guidance to family members or caregivers, helping them to better understand the challenges faced by patients with these conditions.
Yes, most health insurance plans cover this outpatient service. Patients/families are notified of their exact coverage prior to being seen for the evaluation.
