Fostering social well-being for youth with diverse needs
The Casa Colina Children’s Services Center offers weekly social connection
programs for children and teens with social delays. Led by licensed occupational
therapists and/or speech-language pathologists and assistants, our groups
help participants to better engage with peers, working with them on age-appropriate
skills like problem-solving, communication, and conflict resolution, to
help your child improve social connections and thrive with peers.
We offer three levels of social connection training. Each group is divided
as necessary to achieve age-appropriate sub-groups that ensure your child
will be placed with kids closer in age and ability level:
Kids Crew
Kids Crew is a social connection program designed for children ages 4 to
12 years old. All program levels consist of eight weekly sessions that focus on:
Adventure Together gives participants ages 3 to 16 access to diverse, age-appropriate
leisure activities that promote improved quality of life through social
and community engagement. Program levels are determined by age group and
consist of ten weekly sessions that focus on:
Teen Scene is a social connection and life skills program designed for
teens and young adults between 13 and 22 years of age. Program levels
consist of 12 weekly sessions that focus on:
Entering and maintaining participation in social activities
The Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Social Connection
Group is designed for children and adolescents who use an AAC device to
communicate. The group focuses on a wide range of skills including:
Increasing communication and language skills through the use of AAC
Providing opportunities for social interactions and increasing social communication skills
through engaging activities
Providing Aided Language Input (ALI), an evidence-based method of modeling language
Providing parent/caregiver education on strategies and home programs to
increase the child’s and family’s functional use of AAC
All of our social connection programs accept a variety of funding sources,
including regional center, most medical insurances, school districts,
or cash pay.
