For more than 50 years, Casa Colina has been at the forefront of medical care for people with traumatic and acquired brain injuries, offering one of the most extensive brain injury medicine programs nationwide.
Our continuum of care spans the treatment and recovery process, including acute hospital rehabilitation, short-term residential rehabilitation, day treatment, home and community services, outpatient care, and long-term residential facilities. Patients are admitted to the level of care most appropriate to their condition, and all services are tailored to meet their unique needs.
Overseen by a physiatrist certified in Brain Injury Medicine and supported by the Casa Colina Research Institute, our experienced clinicians and residents-in-training combine innovative methods with proven clinical pathways and advanced technology to help brain injury survivors overcome the diverse challenges they face.
For many, treatment begins in our hospital’s Joint Commission-accredited, 68-bed Acute Rehabilitation Wing. Here, patients receive at least three hours of intensive therapy a minimum of five days per week from experienced therapists, many of whom are certified in neurological rehabilitation. Clinical teams meet weekly to discuss patient progress and map out the next steps of each patient’s recovery.
Inpatient facilities include:
A board-certified physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation directs each team of brain injury specialists. Teams may include:
Our Transitional Living Center (TLC) is a 46-bed, CARF-accredited, treatment facility located on our Pomona campus. Residents benefit from up to six hours of individual and group therapy, six days a week, all overseen by a doctor specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
At the TLC, our team of rehabilitation professionals includes board-certified physiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, neuropsychologists, recreational therapists, nursing staff, case managers, and other specialists as needed. TLC clients have access to a range of services, including short-term residential rehabilitation, day treatment, and home and community care.
Our clients participate in frequent outings that provide opportunities to practice skills in real-world settings and facilitate their transition back into the community. Our goal is to help clients better perform functional tasks and gain the confidence to tackle challenges that they will later face at home, in the community, or at work.
Patients who are able to return home but still require rehabilitation care can take advantage of a wide range of outpatient services, including:
Whatever their level of care, Casa Colina offers our neurological patients a broad range of assistive and rehabilitation technology to overcome physical and cognitive challenges and return to the highest level of function possible. Our therapists work with each patient to determine which technologies best support their recovery goals.
Casa Colina offers peer support and education groups for injured individuals reintegrating into the community, as well as support and socialization for their families and caregivers. We even offer on-site housing, on a first-come, first-served basis, for non-local families to be near their loved one during rehabilitation.
Casa Colina offers two long-term residential care facilities for individuals with brain injuries. Casa Colina at Apple Valley (54 beds) and Casa Colina at Rancho Piño Verde (34 beds) provide structured or semi-independent living programs for individuals with brain injury who may require ongoing supervision while they continue to work on their functional independence. Both are professionally staffed with 24-hour supervision to ensure complete care, safety, and security. Both locations are licensed to serve non-ambulatory residents.
If your client or loved one needs care after a brain injury, Casa Colina is ready to help. For more information, please call 909/596-7733, ext. 3900 or toll-free 866/724-4127, ext. 3900 or contact us now.
