At Casa Colina, we are committed to helping people to live their best lives. Our Assistive Technology Center offers people of all ages and abilities access to state-of-the-art digital devices, software, wireless or Bluetooth-enabled equipment that can make your life more efficient and productive, as well as simply easier and safer. Our highly trained staff of licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists includes certified Assistive Technology Professionals (ATP), who will guide you at every step – from the initial evaluation through resource referrals and one-on-one training.
We offer a full complement of assistive technology (AT) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices designed to further your rehabilitation and long-term functionality. The Assistive Technology Center, located inside Casa Colina Hospital, reaches out to our inpatients and outpatients with a variety of acquired or genetic medical conditions and physical disabilities, including:
At your first evaluation, our expert rehabilitation team will carefully analyze your functional ability and discuss your personal objectives. We work with people who have all ranges of abilities, as well as beginners to experts in technology. Together, we will help identify the right technology or combination of technologies for you, whether your goal is to better communicate, increase your independence, achieve your work or school ambitions, and/or to improve and ease daily life by making it more efficient. You will be able to trial these cutting-edge options in technology and assistive devices in our clinical setting and discover how they can be customized to your needs.
Casa Colina brings our clients the most up-to-date products and equipment to help overcome the challenges brought on by injury or illness. These include low-tech products such as picture/symbol communication boards, along with mid-tech options like pre-recorded messages activated with a button or switch. A growing catalog of high-tech solutions is opening possibilities for people with disabilities. These include speech-generating devices, text readers, head tracking technology, eye gaze communication and control devices, touch screens, and switch access dynamic screens, among other options. We track and incorporate the newest developments in AT and AAC for the benefit of our patients.
