While riding his motorcycle in Malibu on November 2, 2008, Marco Ferreira suffered a terrible crash and was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center. Marco spent three weeks in a coma with his wife, Wendy, at his bedside. The traumatic brain injury he sustained caused his brain to swell, a complication that endangered his life. Wendy felt helpless trying to figure out the next steps in his care—until a doctor recommended Casa Colina. With the swelling under control, Marco began comprehensive rehabilitation. At first unable to speak, eat food, or even move, over the next five months Marco made remarkable progress at Casa Colina, giving him his life back and Wendy her husband back.
